Wham Baam Teslacam

My Tesla broke down AND I have some news...

I just realized I have your email address. Mo ha ha... You gave it to me when you sent me your story, so I signed up on this Send-a-Newsletter-thing, and BAAAM! Now I can directly contact all of you who submitted videos. How cool is that? What will I send you? Yeah, I probably should have thought of that before I signed up for this Newsletter service... I could send one of these emails every other month or so to give you a quick insight into what is going on behind the scenes, maybe share some unedited footage, early access to videos (?), and write down 2-3 things that are on top of my head. And also answer some of the most frequent questions we get like:- Why do red cars look orange on Teslacam?- How do I recover deleted Teslacam/Sentry files? (Yes, it's possible)- What is the best way to share a Teslacam file with someone at a crash scene?- Please explain the 4680 batteries to me like I'm five years old. (ok I wrote this question myself)But first, let's dive into some news about the channel and my car.Legally (I checked), I am allowed to send this email since you gave me your consent in the submission form. But if you hate it, you can unsubscribe, but then you will most likely be #hondabumped and miss out on all the fun.

My Tesla broke down...

I've had my 2019 Model 3 Standard Range + for 35 months and 24 days. It has been 100% trouble-free 'ownership'. I put that ' ' there because I don't actually own it, it's on a 36-month lease, and I'm scheduled to return it in 6 days. AND yesterday it started to complain about being returned by making creaking noises when I turned the wheel at slow speeds.I Googled it and found this Thread over at Tesla Owners Online. According to the online car doctors, I'm having trouble with my Upper Control Arm. The first available service appointment is weeks away. It was so close to a perfect 36-month lease!! (Other than a cracked window, but can't really blame Tesla for that one)

Channel News

Last year we created a second channel called 'Wham Baam Dangercam', where we could post the videos YouTube found too dangerous and age restricted. It turned out great in the beginning; YouTube wasn't complaining about that setup. But that channel grew to 40k subscribers and started to pull a lot of views - then it became a problem for YouTube.YouTube has an AI that looks for dangerous content by searching for blocked words like 'gun' or 'fight'. It flags the video for manual review when it finds a video that either speaks about this or has it as on-screen text. Then a YouTube employee watches the video, and usually, they age restricts or remove that content. Last month we uploaded a video of a guy popping a wheelie on a dirt bike without any safety gear (read; helmet) on - and then we got the call. Actually, it was an email. It told us that this video got age-restricted and that the account could be suspended with too many harmful uploads like it. And here is the catch; The Teslacam and Dashcam channels are on the same account! So, we had to stop uploading. So what's next? We had a brilliant idea! The two most watched videos on that channel were the Gaming episodes we did, and you guys have been hammering us with gaming content since then. We got over 300 submissions of people recreating crashes in games such as BeamNG Drive, Forza, GTA V, Roblox, etc.So from this week on, Wham Baam Dangercam is Wham Baam Gamercam - and the first gaming video is going live this weekend. Keep a look out for that if you are into gaming. And as a last middle finger to the YouTube Robots, we created a Tribute video for the Dangercam content; you can watch it here: LINK TO VERY DANGEROUS TESLACAM VIDEOS

Next weeks videos

Teslacam:We recently ran a poll if you wanted one long episode (+15 minutes) per week or two shorter episodes (+8minutes) on the Teslacam channel. And 89% answered one longer. So that's where we are right now. We are aiming to do better and better Sunday videos. On Sunday, it's a crazy story of a Uber Driver who crashed his Model 3 within 36 hours of taking delivery.Dashcam:The channel is growing, and it's so much fun to see these videos that also capture audio. We are keeping a steady upload schedule with new videos every Friday.Ben (the voiceover guy) is the one who is reaching out to you all about these stories. Espanol:We also have a channel in Espanol! Our friend Santiago is translating and dubbing the Teslacam videos. Tell your friends.
